Take a drive an hour north of Atlanta, just up I-85 and mere moments from the charming and historic town of Braselton, and you’ll find something unexpected. It’s a large master-planned community that sits on 1,140 beautiful acres of bucolic land and boasts more than 1,400 homes of all styles and sizes. It features an impressive list of amenities that offer a complete resort-style experience year round. And it provides access to all of the modern conveniences that you need to live your best life. Yet, there’s also something different about the community. Something that makes it stand out from all of the other new developments that are popping up across North Georgia. It’s a sense of tradition. This is Traditions of Braselton.
“This is a very unique community,” says Whit Marshall, CEO of Paran Homes, one of the homebuilders that currently builds in Traditions of Braselton alongside several other metro area companies. “In today’s development environment, this is not the kind of community you find. It’s an established, mature community that also has so many new opportunities and room to grow.”
That foundation was started back in 2004 when Traditions of Braselton first came on the scene in Jackson County. Progress on the development was strong for several years, but it slowed thanks to the Great Recession of the late 2000s. As the economic downturn and its effects finally began to dissipate, the community came under new management. That change, coupled with movement of metro Atlanta residents northward towards the outer suburbs, has infused Traditions of Braselton with a new vibrancy. In the last two years, residential development within the community has enjoyed a major resurgence, as home buyers find their way to this exceptional property. In fact, Traditions regularly welcomes everyone from growing families to empty nesters.
When it comes to the residential options available to them, Traditions of Braselton actually offers four neighborhoods within its borders: The Links, which features homes starting in the high $200s; St. Andrews, offering single-family residences starting in the high $300s; Augusta, a custom-home neighborhood with prices in the high $400s and $500s; and Turnberry, a luxury neighborhood with semi-custom homes with prices rising into the $700s. According to Marshall, several of metro Atlanta’s most prominent homebuilders work within the community, and more are encouraged to explore the opportunities to purchase spacious lots and develop inventory. “There are around 1,000 lots remaining, and we have good, quality builders that build in here and offer many options,” he notes. From ranch-style homes to two- and three-story family residences, there is an eclectic mix of home styles, ensuring that there really is something for everyone.
That extends to the community’s outstanding onsite amenities. At the center of it all is the Traditions of Braselton Golf Club, which is managed by ClubCorp and is home to a spectacular, picturesque 18-hole championship course designed by Arthur Hills protégé Mike Dasher. Also in the spotlight is the Owners Clubhouse at Traditions of Braselton, which recently underwent a $1.3 million renovation to create a stylish multi-purpose space. A fully equipped 24-hour fitness center can be found there, as well as access to a junior Olympic pool and splash zone. Tennis courts, a pickleball court, a playground, trails, fishing lakes and more complete the suite of amenities.
“This isn’t just a neighborhood—it’s a lifestyle,” Marshall says. “There are so many great people in the community, and so many things to do and enjoy.” Actually, gathering together with neighbors occurs regularly at Traditions of Braselton. In addition to enjoying events together on the Festival Lawn, residents can take part in an array of social activities, including trivia nights, poker nights, garden club events, wine tastings, an empty nesters dinner party and a Halloween parade, among many other options. “There’s just a great social atmosphere,” Marshall continues. “Traditions of Braselton is like its own city.”
Fortunately, though, Traditions also offers easy access to a variety of features and locales outside of the community. For instance, families can take advantage of Jackson County’s award-winning school system, which will include a brand new high school in the coming months. What’s more, Braselton is a five-minute drive from the community, and visitors can enjoy everything from great shopping to delectable dining in the historic downtown area. And Château Élan Winery & Resort—one of the area’s most recognized and treasured tourist spots—is not far away.
As Traditions continues to grow, residents—and home buyers—will see even more improvements being made throughout the community. It’s an investment in the future on behalf of the residents who have found Traditions of Braselton and love to call the community home. “This is the best community in the Jackson County area,” Marshall concludes. “It truly is a hidden gem.”
